AxonPlay ("we", "our", or "the app") is a retro game emulator for Android and iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

AxonPlay uses the following services that may process data externally:
When you use the AI Game Assistant feature, a screenshot of your current game screen and your text question are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. This data is used solely to generate a contextual game hint. Google processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. You can choose not to use this feature.
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used: screens opened, features used, settings changed, and the titles of games you launch. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive reports when the app crashes, which include the error, the device model and the Android version.
Neither carries your name or email. Both do carry an identifier that Google assigns to your installation of the app, and that identifier distinguishes one installation from another, so this data is not fully anonymous. See Firebase Privacy.
If you enable Cloud Sync, your save files are uploaded to your personal Google Drive account. This requires Google Sign-In, and the app receives and stores the email address of the account you sign in with, on your device, so it can show you which account is connected. We only access the app-specific folder in your Drive and do not read any other files. You can sign out and disable Cloud Sync at any time in Settings.
If you enable RetroAchievements integration, your RetroAchievements username and API key are stored locally and used to communicate with the RetroAchievements API to track game achievements. Your credentials are never shared with any other service.
The Discover section fetches free homebrew game listings from the Homebrew Hub API and downloads game files from GitHub. No personal data is sent during this process.
AxonPlay offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions ("GBA Pro") through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we do not collect or store any payment information.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's store settings (App Store or Google Play). No refunds will be provided for the unused portion of any subscription period.
Free features (emulation, save states, ROM management) remain fully available without any subscription.
AxonPlay requests the following permissions:
AxonPlay does not request storage or camera permissions. ROM files are read through the system file picker, which grants access to the one file you choose. Tilt controls use the device's motion sensors, which need no permission.
AxonPlay has no account of its own: there is nothing to register for, and we run no server that stores a profile about you.
You can ask us to delete the analytics and crash data associated with your installation by writing to the address at the bottom of this page. Tell us you are asking about AxonPlay for Android; we will confirm once it is done.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to receive a copy of it. You can exercise any of these by writing to the address at the bottom of this page.
You can also act without asking us:
AxonPlay is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The app has no camera or microphone access and never reads your photos: the AI Game Assistant sends only the emulator's own screen and the question you type. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to the address below and we will delete it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
